For comparison purposes , Pataal Lok can be compared to Netflix’s Sacred Games with a cop unfolding a larger conspiracy but Pataal Lok has much more than that going on.
The direction , cinematography and screenplay – all of the perfect elements that make a thriller show a top notch one and recently released Pataal Lok on Amazon Prime makes it stand front in the line. The show’s theme plus the locations make it more realistic than any other Amazon Prime show. The dialogues as well as their delivery are just a chocolate layer over an extremely delicious cake.
Every element in Pataal Lok is maintained throughout elapsing time and every episode unfolds itself to be more suspenceful than the previous one. The plot twists at the end as well as throughout the show are put on at a very balanced timing.
Slowly and gradually, Pataal Lok takes first two episodes to briefly introduce it’s characters and then move forward with the storyline. This is the only slight negative point in the show otherwise the show is a perfect binge watch.
The acting performances of such great actors whom you must have had seen in some Bollywood films as well as TV shows over the years are just cutting edge and the best of each of them. Jaideep Ahlawat is Hathiram Chaudhary – a fed up Policeman who is frustrated from his not so exciting job. He has not got a good case for years. All of his juniors who used to be under his training are now his seniors. Even he thinks of himself as a loser and so he doesn’t want his son to think about him like that.
Ishwak Singh is in the role of Imraan Ansari who is a colleague of Hathiram. He is shown to be an educated boy who is also preparing for further higher posts in life. Hathiram and Ishwak are solving together the case of an attack on journalist Sanjiv Mehra. Neeraj Kabi, Abhishek Bannerjee, Gul Panag and Jagjit Singh are well trained actors and have given their best to the screens.
The show takes a shot at so many things at once – inside of a police investigation in Delhi, the situation of an Inspector who is a loser, his relations with his son who is ashamed of him, the husband wife love, animal love, how murderers are made, political conspiracies and much more.
