Disney has already started being optimistic with the release of their lives action remake Mulan which was earlier scheduled for a release in March but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the film was delayed along with big Disney projects like Black Widow with Marvel Studios. Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed the news.
The pandemic is not clear fully from the world and Disney still sees an opportunity in July that it can somehow be the best release date for the particular film. Even if some theatres are being considered for opening following the procedure of social distancing , there is still a sure thing that Mulan will not be welcomed by much of an audience if we look into this Coronavirus situation. The studio is also working on reopening it’s parks.
Warner Bros on the other side also have a film which is set for a July 17 release – Christopher Nolan’s Sci-fi Tenet. The studio is looking for an opportunity to welcome the audience through the film. Seeing that Warner Bros are so sure about Nolan’s film, Disney has got hopes for their live action Mulan. If Warner Bros stick to the plan , Disney will also follow the risk.
Looking from a business perspective, it may not be a good plan for both of the studios as even if the theatres reopen , health and safety of people always comes first. So even if you are a big fan of Christopher Nolan or Disney Movies , you will have to wait for the pandemic to get over.
