With Aladdin crossing Disney’s favourite Billion Dollar mark worldwide last summers , the production has recently announced the sequel. The first remake of Disney’s 1992 animated film of the same name starred Will Smith, Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari, Navid Negahban, Nasim Pedrad, Billy Magnussen, and Numan Acar, as well as the voices of Alan Tudyk and Frank Welker. The film was released on May 24,2019 and earned a huge success commercially and romantically both.
Disney, however, didn’t gave any clue whether the movie will be directed by Guy Ritchie, who also co-wrote the screenplay with John August for the first movie and neither did they revealed anything about the cast being the same.
Aladdin is the highest grossing movie in whole of Will Smith’s career which may be the reason he wouldn’t refuse to play the blue giant but there are no clear motive for him to revive the Genie because at the end of the first movie ,we see him totally leaving the lamp and leading a normal human life.
For what’s going to really happen in the second movie,we might have to wait for a long time since Disney takes a few years in releasing the sequel of their live action films like they did with Maleficent and are doing with Jungle Book.
In the ending of Aladdin,we saw Jafar being locked up in the lamp but he vows to one day get revenge on Aladdin for what he has done – clear foreshadowing for a sequel, should Disney decide to make one.
We think he might not be returning as his parrot Lago, which could have been the possible reason for his return also got trapped in the lamp along with Jafar in the climax of the movie.
